“What does the movie Shawshank Redemption, Lil Wayne’s music video “Go DJ”, a blueberry patch and Tough Mudder have in common?” Mansfield, Ohio.

As if coming to Mansfield this weekend to run Tough Mudder Ohio wasn’t enough, the city (officially known as “The Fun Center of Ohio”) has something for everyone. Whether it’s before, or after, your event this weekend, don’t miss out on these top five treats and Mudder Deals Mansfield is serving up:

Ghost Hunting

Visit the Ohio State Reformatory known today as being the most paranormally active facility in Ohio. Not only that, but it is also home to Lil Wayne’s rap video “Go DJ”, the movie set Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One!

Feeling BLUE?

Pick yourself up with a visit to the Blueberry Patch winery. The Blueberry Patch is Ohio’s premier blueberry grower and features greenhouses, plant nurseries, wholesale plants, a winery, and blueberry fields, obviously.

Dōmo arigatō, Mr. Roboto

Visit the Mansfield Memorial Museum: proud home to Elektro the Robot – America’s oldest surviving robot. Elektro was built by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in its Mansfield, Ohio facility between 1937 and 1939. Standing at seven feet tall, he can walk (by voice command), speak about 700 words, smoke cigarettes, blow up balloons, and move his head and arms.

Go for a Spin

On the Richland Park Carrousel, that is. It’s the first hand-carved indoor wooden carousel to be built and operated in the United States since the early 1930’s – pretty cool, right?

Hit the Trail

Shake out tight post-Tough Mudder calves on the Richland B & O Bike Trail, an 18.3-mile paved hiking and biking path laid out on the abandoned Baltimore & Ohio railroad branch line.
